Mehmet Can Aydin leaves on loan to Trabzonspor
FC Schalke 04 has decided to loan out the talented Mehmet Can Aydin to Turkish Süper Lig powerhouse Trabzonspor. This strategic decision not only allows Aydin to gain valuable experience but also strengthens the collaboration between these two prestigious teams. The deal includes an enticing option for Trabzonspor to potentially secure Aydin's services permanently in the future.
The talented winger made a move to the prestigious Royal Blues from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2014. With an impressive journey through the ranks of Schalke's youth program, he finally earned his place in the first team during the 2020/21 season.
His dedication and talent were recognized, allowing him to rise through each level and make a significant leap in his professional career. Aydin was a key player for S04 in the Bundesliga last season, making 16 appearances. He also contributed to their success in the DFB-Pokal with two notable performances.
New Schalke Sporting Director André Hechelmann, gave his departing comments on the player, “Memo is a young player, and at his age, it’s important that he is able to see as much playing time as possible at a professional level. Based on our analysis of last season, and having looked at his prospects this season, we decided that a loan would be the best option for both sides,”
Hechelmann continued, “We wish Memo all the best for the upcoming season and will keep an eye on his progress.”
Florian Flick has successfully sealed a permanent move to 1. FC Nürnberg.
Florian Flick has joined 1. FC Nürnberg on a permanent basis, after being loaned to the Bundesliga 2 team for the latter part of last season. Details of the transfer were undisclosed; however, it is presumed to be in the neighborhood of €650 thousand.
In the summer of 2020, Flick made a notable move to join the Schalke reserves. This promising talent previously played for third-tier team Waldhof Mannheim. It's a testament to his skills and potential that he was sought after by a club like Schalke. He featured 27 times in Bundesliga 2 and in 12 games in the Bundesliga (1 goal) for the club.
Schalke Sporting Director André Hechelmann commented “Florian used those six months at Nürnberg in order to gain match practice and further his own development. The competition within the centre midfielders in our squad remains high, which is why we were able to find a solution together.”
Hechelmann continued, “Florian will always have a special place in the hearts of all Schalke fans due to being part of our promotion-winning squad. We wish him all the best, both on and off the pitch, in Nürnberg.”
